International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame inductee and Nadando El Estecho author Montserrat Tresserras was honored with an award from the Spanish government.

The prestigious honor, called the Real Orden del Mérito Deportivo Medalla de Bronce (Royal Order of Sporting Merit Bronze Medal), is given annually to distinguished individuals.

For having excelled in the sport of marathon swimming as an athlete, coach, mentor, administrator and author, Montserrat received one of the highest awards that can be awarded in the Spanish sports world.

Since the 1950s, Montserrat has demonstrated her athleticism as well as unselfishly shared her time and talents to others of her generation and those who follow her steps.

Montserrat‘s Real Orden del Mérito Deportivo was recently presented by Her Royal Highness Infanta Cristina (shown above).

The President of Real Federación Española de Natación hosted a luncheon to all swimmers world who had been similarly honored with the prize.
