Enrollment for the 17.5-mile Ederle Swim from Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to Manhattan also opened this week with major changes for the 2012 event:

The challenging Ederle Swim moved from its traditional date in October to August in order to offer more temperate conditions. Additionally, the field has been expanded to include two-person relays.

Tentative swim dates for the highly popular events in America’s biggest city now open include:

Great Hudson River Swim, 1.6 miles on May 26th

Stars & Stripes: Aquathlon and Swim, 1.5K swim/5K run on June 16th

Liberty Island Swim, 1.2K on June 29th

Brooklyn Bridge Swim, 1K on July 15th

Governors Island Swim, 2 miles on July 28th

Ederle Swim, 17.5 miles on August 18th
Little Red Lighthouse Swim, 10K on September 22th
