Stephen Redmond Describes The Invisible Umbilical Cord

Spread the love

Stephen Redmond of Ireland talks about his quest to achieve the Oceans Seven in the latest Red Bulletin Magazine.

In The Long Way Home article, Stephen explains the well-known feeling among marathon swimmers between themselves and their support crew. When very little can be seen above or below the water with near-complete sensory deprivation where the only tactile sensation is being enveloped in seemingly endless cold, rough water, open water swimmers are completely vulnerable.

Due to the reliance on his crew for food, safety and navigation, Stephen’s colorfully and aptly describes his utter dependence on his crew as an individual umbilical cord.

Stephen Redmond‘s article is here where Nicolas Stecher and Chris Baldwin bring an endearing touch to the humble cold-water hero.
