This St. Patrick’s Day weekend will host swims all colors of the rainbow.
The South West Rocks Swim (Sat) will be  up on the mid-North Coast, and for Balmoral,a harbour swim on Sydney’s north side, and Sandon Point, on Wollongong’s northern beaches (both Sun). Online entries close at noon the day prior to each.  South West Rocks is one of the prettiest towns on the NSW North Coast. Main swim is a glorious trek from one end of Trial Bay to the other.

Balmoral is a pretty swim on a pretty beach, just 1km, but it takes place against the backdrop of Georges Head and Sydney Heads in the background, with the constant traffic of yachts and Manly ferries. There’s also a relay, and a corporate relay. This is one of the few swims run directly for another cause, in this case the Childrens Cancer Institute Australia, for which swimmers are urged to raise funds through a fund-raising page. And the Navy Band will play.

Sandon Point is a nice beach in Wollongong’s northern suburbs. We remember it from our youth as a popular surf spot. Not sure how the waves are breaking these days. This is the first season in which we’ve been able to offer online entries to this event.
