Samuel De Bona In Pursuit Of A Medal

Spread the love

Samuel Menegon De Bona enjoyed his highest place ever at a FINA World Championship competition.

The young man from Brazil with a perennial wide, warm smile was ecstatic about his 6th place finish and he understood of the mistakes he made in the 5 km race this weekend.

The race was pretty hard. There were many contours in the course and much physical contact between everyone. In the end, I got used to the pace and I was able to stick with the lead group of athletes. I was hanging with Thomas [Lurz] and almost got a medal, but I choose the wrong side towards the end of the race.

I had a different plan and preparation. I had a strong strategy and it worked. I’ll swim the [Team Pursuit] relay in the quest for a medal. Poliana [Okimoto] is a great athlete and she will be able to keep the pace of Luis Rogerio Arapiraca and me in pursuit of a medal!
