It gives us great pleasure and is indeed a great honour to host in 2017 the 2nd Ice Swimming Aqua
Sphere World Championships over 1000 m freestyle in our city of sport, Burghausen.
Following the World Champs on 6-Jan, the Aqua Sphere German Open will take place for the 3rd
time, which has so far been a great success and where also short distances are available to compete
in.
The Ice Swimming Club SerWus Burghausen and The International Ice Swimming Association would
like to invite you to come along and enjoy the 2nd Ice Swimming Aqua Sphere World
Championships, from 5th to 6th of January 2017, and the 3rd Ice Swimming Aqua Sphere German
Open, from 7th to 8th of January 2017, in Burghausen and to follow the thrilling competition and
races.
The positive feedback from the Ice Swimming Aqua Sphere German Open in 2015 and 2016, in
which athletes of more than 15 nations took part, reached to the top of the International Ice
Swimming Association (IISA). This and the fact that our local sports personality and current World
Champion, Christof Wandratsch, is a founding member of our Ice Swimming Club SerWus
Burghausen e.V., was the driving force behind the decision of the presidency of the IISA for
Germany to host the 2nd World Championships.
The organizing committee decided to invite you as our personal guest and therefore it will cover
your return flight to Burghausen and 4 nights’ accommodations in Burghausen. Please find the
events program attached.
If you wish to participate in any of the shorter events, please let me know.
Please RSVP as soon as you can.
