Swimming Around The World, Olympian Ashley Twichell On WOWSA Live

Sixth place never seemed so good – or such a relief – for 5 km world champion Ashley Twichell.
She has won world championship races, both individually and on relays. She has won multiple USA Swimming national titles in the pool and open water. She has won many medals on international circuit during her lengthy career.
But one ultimate goal has eluded her: a shot at Olympic gold.
With her sixth place finish in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2019 FINA World Championships, the 30-year-old swimmer from North Carolina qualified to become an Olympic rookie – and is now waiting as her competitors are for the lockdown to be over and get back to training.
She spoke with International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame chairman Ned Denison about her experiences in today’s WOWSA Live program. “I’ve been swimming for a really long time and I swim obviously because it’s fun and I love it.
