Stripped Like Sea Snakes For Protection

Jennifer Figge wears a wetsuit on her stage swims in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
And it is a unique one. Her wetsuit has white stripes painted on it. “That is so I appear poisonous,” she explains. “Most poisonous sea snakes are striped.
On my third Atlantic crossing, the diver onboard was uncomfortable with the number of shark sightings. He came up with this idea, but we didn’t have any paint so we made our own by mixing boat glue and nail polish remover. I have been striped ever since.”
