Racing In Trinidad For FINA Junior Worlds

24 swimmers raced 3 different courses (5 km, 7.5 km, 10 km) at the Point-a-Pierre Yatch Club Harbour in Point-a-Pierre, Trinidad in qualification races for the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships and the FINA Junior World Open Water Swimming Championships in the 14-17 and 18 & over categories.

Carifta Swim Team manager, Shastri Sankar created a 1250m course so the athletes could race 4 loops (for the 5 km), 6 loops (for the 7.5 km), and 8 loops (for the 10 km). Swimmers in the 10 km race were also timed at the end of 4 loops and 6 loops to get their times for the shorter events.

Trinidad’s top open water swimmers, Christian Marsden, Jivan Chee Foon, Theana Hay, Syriah David and Shania David, competed in the 10 km. The results are as follows:
