Noah Takes To The Open Water

|

From his high school senior year in southwest desert oasis of Phoenix, Arizona to 3 YMCA national titles in 2012 and his first year at the Naval Academy, it has been a whirlwind period for 18-year-old Noah Martin.

And his first-year experiences will only continue.

Growing up in Pennsylvania and then Arizona, I never did any open water swimming,” explains Martin after the Fran Crippen Sunset Mile.

But here I am representing Navy at the USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships. It is a great experience here in Castaic Lake.

This was my first open water race and I was greatly impressed with the efficiency of the staff, and appreciated how quickly and smoothly the transition from race to race was. I thought the set up for the course was very nice; it was a good route and I really enjoyed it. This set-up increased my interest in open water swims, and I hope to participate in more races in the future.”
