Matías Ola, Uniting The World Through The Open Water

Inspired by Marcos Díaz’s Swim Across The Continents, Matías Ola is training for his own global series of swims called the Unir el Mundo project.

Ola will shed the neoprene as a Argentine specialist in cold water swimming. His Unir el Mundo project includes the following swims:

1. Strait of Gibraltar from Marruecos in Morocco to Tarifa, Spain
2. 86 km Bering Strait Crossing – international relay team
3. Bering Strait from Big Diomede Island, Russia to Little Diomede, Alaska
4. From Papua New Guinea to Jayapura, Indonesia
5. From Aquaba, Jordan to Egypt
6. From Europe to Asia in Turkey
7. To the Isla de los Estados in Tierra del Fuego in Argentina

He has quite a team behind him with 8 people including Pablo Testa, his trainer, Christian Alberto Espinola, Technical assistant, Coach, Lifeguard and Rescue Swimmer, Patricia Whigtman, Psychologist, Dr. Fernando Estevan, an Intensive Care Specialist, Dr. Eduardo Reges, a Mountain Care Specialist, José Luis Schanzenbach, a documentary photographer, and Ariel Calderon, a Documentary Cinema Director.
