Luciano Sales Rubio, Swimming Fast For 88 Kilometers

Luciano Sales Rubio of Argentina swam an average of 6.57 kilometers per hour for nearly 10 hours as he pushed a fast pace throughout the 19th annual 88 km Maratón Internacional Hernandarias – Parana. The race was held from the city Hernandarias to Paraná, Argentina down the Paraná River.
After 9 hours 39 minutes, there was only a single body length separating the top 3 finishers (see the final sprint between Sales, Damian Blaum and Saleh Mohammad below). The battle down the last 100 meters was caught by the local television broadcasters.
